Although
this course is accurately measured using a Jones Counter by a top level certifier
it will not be certified due to the variability along the Wild Pacific Trail.
This shouldn't be of much concern to most of you since with all the ups and downs,
there won't be any records broken -- except for the number of times you'll say
"WOW!" as you run along the WPT!
We have posted a photo gallery to
show you what you can expect from the course. These photos are taken from the
final 6km of the course and along the Wild
Pacific Trail looking out onto the Pacific Ocean. The first 15km are along
the paved bike path and highway.
When you
first enter the Wild Pacific Trail, the running surface changes to a graded gravel
path approximate 1-2 metres wide where passing will not be a problem. You can
expect an undulating trail filled with incredible views, a lush rainforest, one
rugged coastline, and the sound of crashing waves and seagulls... truly breath-taking
and it will be a course you'll remember forever! We
have also added a run along Big Beach (gravel path) just past the 19 km mark.
This is the 'icing on the cake' as you get a nice and open view of the Pacific.
Just when you thought it couldn't get more scenic...
 This
is the first great view you'll see from the trail (right after a little hill).

 This
tree is proof that the storms are fierce on the West Coast.
 The
view west towards Hawaii...
 This
was a calm day on the water.
 The
rugged shoreline littered with driftwood.
 One
of the many great views from the trail.

 Back
to the pavement! The view as you exit the Wild Pacific Trail for the final few
km through town.

 The
view along Marine Drive
 Running
down Matterson Ave looking out to Mt. Ozzard.
 Running
along Helen Street with a view of Ucluelet Harbour. There's a good chance you'll
see (and hear) the Sea Lions.
 A
view from the finish line (this will also be the starting location for the Half
Marathon).
 VILLAGE
GREEN: The finish line is now down along the waterfront by the District of Ucluelet
office.
